Harvest Conditions

Spring 2026 brought mixed conditions to China's primary morel-growing regions. Yunnan province saw above-average rainfall in March, supporting strong mycelial growth, while Sichuan's harvest came in approximately 10โ€“15% below last year due to an unseasonably dry February.

Overall, the 2026 harvest is tracking slightly below the bumper 2025 season, but remains above the 10-year average โ€” a broadly positive signal for supply continuity.

Grade A Availability

Premium Grade A whole dried morels (3โ€“8cm) are expected to see slightly firmer pricing through Q2 and Q3 2026 as domestic Chinese demand grows alongside rising export volumes to Japan and South Korea. European buyers with Q4 requirements should consider securing positions early.

Freight & Lead Times

Shipping from Chinese origin ports to EU destinations is currently running 28โ€“35 days via sea freight. Air freight premiums remain elevated but are being used selectively for high-value or time-sensitive consignments.

What This Means for EU Buyers

Foodiglobal recommends locking in forward contracts for Q3 deliveries now. Price windows remain competitive and we expect upward pressure as the season progresses. Contact us to discuss specifications and volume pricing.
